Reptilian Renegades started as one of the first projects to launch through Hydra’s Launchpad but unfortunately rugged. It was then taken over by Hydra themselves and represents their second project alongside Sea Shanties. In addition to providing their Launchpad – Chimera – they provide a suite of services including tokenomics consulting, staking platforms, utilities such as Degen Toy Machines and are in the process of building a marketplace as well.
As of 19th June 2023, Stockstill confirmed that Reptilian Renegade would be operating as a separate entity to Hydra due to him no longer working for Hydra.
On 27th July 2023, it was announced that the project will be temporarily taken over by The Highest Lizard Council members, led specifically by Chao Bofa whilst Stock was busy with his IRL engagements and market conditions turned for the better.

The main PFP collection. There are currently OG and Deviant type Lizards, with a 3rd type, Corrupted, on their way.
It is important to note that there is a trait under Lizard Type for Deviant Lizards but not for OG. This needs to be taken into account when buying off of secondary markets if you’re targeting specific types. That being said, you can work it out based on the art as well. Examples are available in the art tab.
Upgrading to a Corrupted Lizard will require 1 x OG Lizard, 1 x Red Eye and 420 $SIGHT.

Gen 2: https://magiceden.io/marketplace/reptilian_eyes_2
There are currently 2 Eye collections on Magic Eden. Green coloured eyes exist in both generations of have the same function regardless of Generation. There are only 1000 Red eyes. Use cases are described in Utility.

Not much info on them as yet. Only alpha I could get was that they are worth more than red eyes but not as much as Lizards themselves.
They can be staked to earn $SIGHT token with OG earning 4/day, Deviant earning 5/day and Corrupted earning 6/day. Deviants and Corrupted Lizards will also have random chances to earn increased emissions for a 24 hour period called ‘Basking‘. The probability of this occurring is higher the longer the NFT is staked.
It is important to note that there are separate staking sites.
OG Lizards: https://staking.reptilian-renegade.com/
Deviant Lizards: https://basking.reptilian-renegade.com/
NOTE: As of 31st July 2023, it was announced that the staking site would be temporarily shut down to reduce running costs for the project. G
Lizard holders will also get whitelist spots for projects that launch on Komodo. Holding certain amounts get you guaranteed whitelist for projects launching on Komodo starting at 8 Lizards. The screenshot below is the thresholds to qualify for each role and the number of whitelist spots they were given for the recent Mara mint.
The recent Mara mint was in $SOL.
The Eyes are used to convert OG Lizards, with Green Eyes forming Deviant Lizards and Red Eyes forming Corrupted Lizards. The Gen 1 Eyes also have an Eternal Eye trait but there isn’t much information on them at this point other than the fact that there are only 10 of them.
They are also used to play Eyegame which is currently on hold, but offers the opportunity to earn more Eyes and/or SIGHT.
Reptilian Renegade’s SPL token. Current use cases include:
Komodo is a curated art incubator supporting 1/1 artists on the Solana Ecosystem. Built by Hydra Labs, Komodo will host lottery-based mints to help artists launch and sell-out their 1/1 art pieces. The platform will also provide weekly artists showcases, art drops and special edition mints with art pieces being able to be minted in SOL, USDC or $SIGHT.

Definitely interested to see where this goes. Biggest appeal for me personally is Chimera and the opportunity to mint projects launching on it. They’ll definitely need to get that ball rolling though to build up their name, especially in an environment saturated with Launchpads.
Could also be a great play for 1/1 art enthusiasts to get some exposure to that and be able to mint in a token earned from staking.
I was also able to chat to several members in their community on how they’d recommend a new holder start off. Their recommendation was start off with OG Lizards, Red eyes to upgrade to Corrupted Lizards, some $SIGHT token and tails. Be mindful when buying on Magic Eden that there is a trait for Deviant Lizards but not OG so just check which type you’re actually buying because Deviant Lizards cannot be upgraded to Corrupted at this stage.
I also asked what is stopping artists from just dumping $SIGHT token earned from art sales on Komodo. The team advised it’s definitely something they will be working out with the artists themselves but overall they keep a very tight grip on their tokenomics and believe they’ll be able to manage it well. There will only be a small portion of art able to be minted in $SIGHT as well.
For now, the project should be more or less considered to be on ice until market conditions improve. The team led by Chao Bofa have been doing a wonderful job of keeping the community engaged for the time being and they have confirmed that there are several things ready for launch (e.g. Lizard tail contract) that just aren’t appropriate to do so under current conditions.
