I think at this stage in the market, speculators and investors really need to start paying attention to the BTC pairing of their favorite alts as a lot of them are falling hard against Bitcoin and also breaking previous support levels entering large liquidity voids which could see a lot of downwards pressure on the USD counterpart.
In any such case if BTC is to perform well against the USD we may see the USD pairs of alts still hold value or may even in some cases go up, but they will most likely bleed hard against BTC which will only be evident that you are backing the wrong horse when you realise how many sats you have lost during this time.
Ethereum has another 30% drop between where it is now and the next major support range against BTC that we may see the confidence roll back into ETH after profit taking on BTC.
