Ethereum’s Pectra Upgrade Cuts Fees, Pay In USDT

Ethereum’s largest upgrade since March 2024, the Pectra hard fork, went live on May 7, 2025, enhancing user experience with 11 EIPs.

Users can now pay fees in tokens like USDT, use multisig wallets, and automate transactions, thanks to EIP-7702’s account abstraction. EIP-7691 doubles blob counts, cutting costs on Layer 2 networks like Arbitrum and Optimism.

Staking is more accessible with EIP-7251, raising the validator cap to 2,048 ETH.
